Foodland Launches the Mighty South Aussie Cake Off as part of #TheShowAtHome

19 August 2020

In absence of the Royal Adelaide Show and to support the South Australian Country Women’s Association, Foodland is excited to announce that they are launching a new competition as part of the 2020 ‘Show At Home’ festivities.

Foodland is inviting South Australians to show off their mighty cake decorating skills in their ‘Mighty South Aussie Cake Off’ competition, calling for masters of baking, royalties of icing, and those who believe their cake decorating dominates!

As the Royal Adelaide Show is happening virtually this year, entrants will simply need to upload a photo of their spectacular cake creation to theshowathome.com.au/cakeoff to go in the running to win an amazing range of prizes.

The major prize winner will win the ultimate cake off prize pack. There will also be 5 runners’ up, who will each win a share of Foodland vouchers.

The competition will be sponsored by the likes of CSR, GLAD, Nestle, White Wings and Western Star, with part proceeds of the competition going directly to the South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA).

“The Mighty South Aussie Cake Off is a great way for South Australians to put their cake decorating skills to the test,” Franklin dos Santos, Chief Executive Officer at Foodland Supermarkets, says.

“Not only is this a fun initiative you can involve the whole family in, but this is a great way to show support for a mighty South Australian organisation like the SACWA.”

Being reliant on the Royal Adelaide Show for a large portion of their annual fundraising efforts, the cancellation of the event has left the SACWA seeking alternative ways to gather much-needed funds and support for the South Australian community.

Roslyn Schumann, State President of the SACWA, is excited to be a part of Foodland’s fundraising initiative and to see the South Australian community’s creative skills.

“As an Association, SACWA Members are known for our cooking skills and I would encourage people across South Australia to participate in this “creative” competition to support #TheShowAtHome,” Roslyn Schumann, State President of the SACWA, says.

“We thank Foodland and the sponsors of the Mighty South Aussie Cake Off for their valued support and good luck to all entrants.”
