Limestone Coast: Our Top Spots, Exclusive Accommodation Deals & More!

Home to some of the most incredible geological wonders, an abundance of cellar doors and plenty of things to do and see, the Limestone Coast is truly a spectacular part of South Australia. Undoubtedly a must-add to your South Australian bucket list!

Here are our top things to do in the Limestone Coast…

Visit Mount Gambier

A trip to the Limestone Coast truly isn’t complete without stopping in at Mount Gambier, which has an abundance of things to do and see for the entire family.

Experience the beautiful Umpherston Sinkhole, which can be found in the centre or town.

Never seen the famous Blue Lake? It is a must-do! Undoubtedly one of the region’s most iconic attractions, have your breath taken away by the sheer beauty of its dazzling blue waters. We recommend visiting between November and late February to experience the lake in its most beautiful (and blu-est!) form.

Lover of the great outdoors? Take a hike at one of Mount Gambier’s most scenic walking or hiking trails. Find out more.

After a great spot for fishing? Port MacDonnell Jetty, Valley Lake and Carpenters Rocks have you covered. For more fishing spots, click here.

Explore world heritage caves

Over 800,000 years old, make sure to visit the Naracoorte Caves, which used to be used as pitfall traps and predator dens. With four caves open to the public, this is a great way to learn about Australian flora and fauna history. The caves are perfect to visit all year round, staying a constant 17 degrees Celsius!

After exploring the caves, make sure to visit the Wonambi Fossil Centre and take a step back in time to discover what it was like to live in South Australia over 200,000 years ago! The centre has recreated a time where megafauna roamed the landscape, with a more diverse local animal community. Perfect for the whole family!

Want to experience natural up close and personal? Check out Kilsby Sinkhole, renowned for being one of the best sinkhole dive sites in the world, or Echo Farm, where you can go for a self-guided visit to meet a variety of farm and native animals. How fun!
