Foodland to Support New Charity Foundation

Independent South Australian supermarket chain, Foodland, will continue its support for the charity work
undertaken by the McGuinness McDermott Foundation.

The Foundation is expected to be relaunched shortly under a new name following the recent resignation of
co-founder Tony McGuinness.

Foodland’s Chief Executive, Mr Russell Markham, said Foodland strongly supported the charity’s aim of
assisting sick children, principally by raising money for the oncology unit at the Women’s and Children’s
Hospital.

“We have been in close contact with the MMF’s other co-founder, Chris McDermott in recent days and will offer our strong support to the new Foundation that replaces the MMF,” he said.

“Foodland has been a substantial donor to the MMF over the years and is presently running a major fundraiser through the 2010 Foodland Charity Holiday House promotion.
“That promotion is expected to raise more than $300,000, which will now be directed to the new Foundation, which we understand will be called Little Heroes Foundation.”

Mr Markham said he did not believe recent events would have any signifi cant impact on the 2010 Foodland Charity Holiday House promotion or Foodland’s charity work.

Under the Holiday House promotion, shoppers who purchased any two specially highlighted products from their local Foodland store and attach the receipt are eligible to win one of eight monthly draws.

Each winner of the monthly draw wins a $5000 Foodland voucher and a representative key.

“At the end of the promotion, the eight monthly winners will each draw a real key, one of which will open the door to the Foodland Charity Holiday Home,” he said.

“The person whose key opens the door will win the home and I am sure they will be absolutely thrilled with it.”

Mr Markham said a similar promotion two years ago raised more than $220,000 for charity and he was confident the new promotion would raise a similar amount.
